CAST-IT Success Story

F-5 Gun Gas Deflector Assembly The CAST-IT™ Team has been actively engaged with DSCR Product Center 11 and a new prime, Sierra Tech, to Gun Gas Deflectorresolve a prolonged backorder situation for this steel investment casting. The backorder situation had been created by previous contracts being cancelled or delinquent. CAST-IT™ assisted by partnering with the newly sourced foundry, Aurora Castings, to optimize quality and delivery. The foundry required several government owned tools and fixtures that were involved in a delayed transferred from a previous contractor. CAST-IT™ teamed with Sierra Tech and Aurora to develop a fixturing solution for straightening and inspection.

Frank Carbone,
President, Sierra Tech

“The CAST-IT™ team worked closely with Aurora and Sierra Tech to determine the most cost effective design that could be used by both the foundry for straightening inspection and the machine shop for the first operation set up. Working with the team has helped keep the F5 Deflector project on schedule and saved countless hours of re-qualification for new tooling.”
